The challenge
Softcat is one of the UK's leading IT infrastructure and services providers — a FTSE 250 business with over 1,500 employees and offices spanning the length of the country. Nine separate office locations, each with its own access control and CCTV infrastructure, none of it unified and much of it ageing. The brief was clear: replace the fragmented, outdated estate with a single, modern, centrally managed platform.
What we did
SEG Core conducted thorough site audits across all nine Softcat locations. Verkada's cloud-native architecture means all nine sites — from the Marlow headquarters to Glasgow, Newcastle and Bristol — are visible from a single Command dashboard, so administrators can review footage, manage credentials and receive alerts from any site on any device. Cameras went in across entrances, reception, server rooms and car parks, with access control on all entry and secure-zone doors and Softcat's Active Directory integrated for credential management.
- Marlow (HQ), London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol
- Leeds, Glasgow, Newcastle, South Coast
The outcome
Softcat now operates a single, unified security estate across its entire UK footprint. What previously required nine separate management interfaces and multiple maintenance contracts is handled from one dashboard, and the project was delivered across all nine sites without disruption to operations.
