How an install runs

Doors are joinery, electrics and IT at the same time. All three are ours.

Door survey

Every leaf: what it is made of, which way it swings, whether it is a fire door, what lock suits it and whether the frame will take it.

Design

A door schedule with hardware per opening, reader type, fail-safe or fail-secure, and the power and containment behind it.

Install and commission

Readers, controllers, locks, power supplies, door contacts and the cabling, tested door by door.

Handover

Roles and schedules configured with you, credentials issued, and your team shown how to run it.

Fire doors done properly

Access control on a fire door is a life safety matter. We specify to the door's rating and leave the certification in place, not compromised.

The joiner problem solved

Locks, strikes, mag locks and frames are hardware decisions before they are IT ones. Our engineers do both parts.

Leavers actually get removed

Where you use Microsoft 365, credentials can follow the directory — so disabling an account disables the door too.

Tailgating without a guard

The camera and the door are the same system, so it flags a second person following through without a security desk at every transition.

FAQ

Common questions

Can we use our existing cards?

Often, yes — it depends on the card format. Bring one to the survey and we will read it and tell you rather than guess.

What happens in a power cut or fire alarm?

Exactly what you specify at design, door by door: fail-safe doors release, fail-secure doors hold. It is interfaced to the fire alarm so egress is never dependent on the access system.

Does it work if the internet drops?

Yes. The controllers hold their credentials and schedules locally and keep working. They sync back when the connection returns.

Can we manage several buildings from one place?

That is the normal case for us. Landmark Underwriting runs a public ground floor and a private office above it as separate zones in one console; Softcat runs nine offices the same way.

Can it integrate with our HR or hotel systems?

Directory sync is standard. Belmond's readers align with the property management system so credentials follow check-in and check-out without anyone rekeying anything.
