Michael Simm

Co-founder & Operations Director, The Specialist Electrical Group

Michael Simm runs operations across the group. On a Verkada project that means the half most resellers subcontract: containment, cable routes, power and working safely in occupied buildings.

He spent four years as an apprentice on large new-build schemes before running his own company through smart home, data and specialist lighting. His insistence on photographic evidence of every job suits security work, where clients need to see exactly what went where.

Russell Solts

Co-founder & Commercial Director, The Specialist Electrical Group

Russell Solts heads commercial and finance for the group, including the Verkada practice.

Security and access are not new ground for him. Working with Westinghouse Cubic, he installed the original ticketing systems and gates across London Underground, and after the King's Cross fire installed the temporary ticket office that kept the station running. His businesses went on to deliver for Tesco, Amazon and the US Department of the Navy.

Both halves of a security job, led from the top

A Verkada installation is the platform and the building. The directors behind this site come from the building side, which is why nobody on a verkadacctv.co.uk project says “power by others”.

Built by electricians

Michael Simm trained in containment and installation on hotels, schools and car parks. The cable routes, power and containment behind your cameras are his world.

Michael introduced photographic audits of every job years before it was standard, so you can see exactly what was fitted, where, and how it was left.

Russell Solts worked on London Underground's original ticketing systems and gates, and later delivered for Tesco, Amazon and the US Department of the Navy.
